The County of Columbia is
served by an EMS Coordinator and five Deputy EMS Coordinators. The
EMS Coordinator is appointed annually by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors.
He/she then recommends five individuals to the County Board of Supervisors,
to act as his/her Deputy Coordinators.
The

Responsibilities
Include:

Liaison between all EMS agencies and the
County Board of Supervisors (BOS).

Responsible for all EMS education courses
in the County.
-
Administers the County programs for EMS
Mutual Aid.

Liaison between all hospitals and all EMS
providers.
-
Prepares and submits annual EMS budget
to the County BOS.
-
Ensures that all EMS agencies are in compliance
with QI/QA - in accordance with NYS PHL Article 30.
-
Works with County and Agency Medical Directors,
to implement County pre-hospital care standards.
-
Provide technical support to all EMS agencies.
-
Ensure that all EMS agencies are in compliance
with requirements set forth by the NYS Department of Health, REMO, and
County Medical Director.
-
Ensure proper operation of the County's
EMS communications system.
-
Implement and maintains policies adopted
and approved by the Columbia County EMS Advisory Board.
-
Directs/supervises all EMS Deputy Coordinators.
-
Liaison between EMS agencies and all Fire,
Law and other Public Safety agencies.
-
Administers all County funds which are
set forth by the County in an EMS budget account.

Data Management Coordinator

Responsibilities
Include:

Manage day to day operations of the EMS
Office.

Manage and maintain the Columbia County
EMS Coordinator's computer system.

Work with the EMS Coordinator in procuring
specified EMS related data from the 911 Center.
-
Serve as Columbia County EMS liaison to
the 911 Center.
-
In the absence of the Coordinator, assume
the EMS Coordinator's duties.
-
Respond to and lend assistance to specified
incidents within Columbia County - representing the EMS Coordinator's Office
in the Unified Incident Command System.
-
Represent Columbia County EMS Coordinator's
Office at committee meetings so specified by the EMS Coordinator.
-
Research all possible sources of grant
money to support new and existing projects.
-
Work with 911 administration to ensure
compliance with Columbia County EMS policies and procedures.
-
Compile monthly statistical analysis reports.
-
Provide administrative support to all Deputy
Coordinators.
-
Research, collect, and distribute to EMS
Coordinator and all Deputies, pertinent information and committee reports.
-
Provide written monthly report to EMS Coordinator
of all activities/committee meetings from previous month.

Attendance at all EMS Coordinator meetings.
-
Prepare annual budget in conjunction with
the EMS Coordinator.

Education Coordinator

Responsibilities
Include:

Serve as Course Administrator for all NYS
EMS courses in Columbia County.

Schedules BLS, ALS, and CFR classes and
refresher classes based upon need.
-
Maintain all required training records
in accordance with NYS DOH and regional requirements.
-
Serve as chairperson of Columbia County
EMS Instructors.
-
Work with Columbia County Instructors,
EMS Advisory Board and EMS Coordinator to develop, implement, and maintain
policies and programs for EMS training and public prevention and public
safety programs.
-
Ensure all instructional staff meet required
minimum standards.
-
In conjunction with EMS Coordinator, procure
and maintain all required training equipment and supplies.
-
Respond to and lend assistance to specified
incidents within Columbia County - representing the EMS Coordinator's Office
in the Unified Incident Command System.
-
Represent the EMS Coordinator's Office
at committee meetings so specified by the EMS Coordinator.
-
Assist all county squads with their training
needs.
-
Research all possible sources for grant
money to support new and existing projects.
-
Engage local squads in public education
/ awareness programs within their communities increasing volunteer awareness.

Recruitment and retention of new instructional
staff.
-
Provide written monthly report to Coordinator's
Office of all activities/committee meetings from previous month.

Prepare annual budget in conjunction with
EMS Coordinator.

Attendance at all EMS Coordinator meetings.

Responsibilities
Include:

Serve as Columbia County EMS liaison to
Columbia County Fire Service.

Work with Educational Coordinator in providing
classroom training, public prevention, and public safety programs.

Act as Columbia County EMS Occupational
Health and Safety representative to all Columbia County EMS agencies.
-
Work with EMS Coordinator in developing
specialized support personnel within Columbia County EMS agencies.
-
Respond to and lend assistance to specified
incidents within Columbia County - representing the EMS Coordinator's Office
in the Unified Incident Command System.
-
Represent Columbia County EMS Coordinators
Office at committee meetings so specified by the EMS Coordinator.
-
Research all possible sources for grant
money to support new and existing projects.
-
Attends Firematic Battalion and Coordinator's
meetings, providing updated and educational EMS related material.
-
Provide written monthly report to Coordinator's
Office of all activities/committee meetings from previous month.
-
Attendance at all EMS Coordinator meetings.
